Come learn the wonderful craft of crankies! A crankie is a box that holds a moving picture show- a story on a scroll told through images or shadow puppets, seen through a viewing window - like an analog TV.   While crankies date back to 19th century America, "moving picture" storytelling has been done across the world for many centuries. 

In this class each student will create their own crankie box!  Nina and Sonya Montenegro of The Far Woods Creative Studio will provide materials, inspiration, and step-by-step guidance to create the illustrated scroll and crankie box.  At the end of class we will share our crankie shows with one another! All skill levels are welcome.  Ages 10+

Acclaimed illustrator Giselle Potter will lead a dynamic workshop, open to all abilities, sharing drawing/collage examples that she uses to jump start/explore ideas.

Renowned animator of favorites -”Your Face” and shorts on the Simpsons, Bill will show some of his shorts and discuss independent animation. This is a rare opportunity to gain insight from an animation guru, mentor to many!
