REHARMONIZE

REHARMONIZE: New Art by Nancy Gibson Nash

While reharmonize traditionally relates to music, collage is my way of reharmonizing vintage objects, papers and various orphaned items into visual poems that I hope sing to the viewer. I honor the stories hidden in these materials and take joy in bringing them together in unexpected ways, which then suggests a new idea, sometimes whimsical, sometimes poignant.Quilts feel like sisters to collage. Given my love for color, pattern and texture not a scrap of vibrant fabric escapes my eye or the need to sew it to another for a harmonized square. My creative process is akin to gardening, accepting stray plants, digging and transplanting, delighting in the layers and surprises that bloom along the way.

My art for REHARMONIZE is on exhibit at the Kerri Gallery, 861 Main Street Willimantic, Connecticut
